Draw?

Hello all,

This is my last game OTB

My opponent is rated 2030 and with that, 230 higher then me. From the start I played for a draw.  I am white.

I could really use some advice on the final position.

Offcourse I shouldn't complain since I got what I wanted. But is there a way to play for the win? Preferable without allowing any counterplay.  My extra pawn is the h-pawn and I see no way to make proper use of that.

A  detail but none the less. My opponent has 22 minutes left for the entire game. Mine reads 1 hour and 5 minutes.

Besides advice on how to finish the game, all other comments and tips are more then welcome.

I agree that you accepted the draw. A single pawn is no more a threat in that position. I also check it by using the engine rybka. I watch the possible outcome and the result is a draw. All pawns are captured and each has remaining one rook. "Draw by repetition."

I think a win probably would have been possible, but onyl with one of you making a stupid mistake. Taking the draw was probably a good idea.

As a rule of thumb, you should try to avoid an exchange of light-squared bishops in this kind of pawn structure, because your bishop is better. Your opponent should have played 18...Qxb3 with clear advantage for Black: 19.Rb4 Qa2 20.Rxb7 Rfb8. As for the final position, I don't see how can white win this, it's probably a draw.

Thanks all for responding.

@IM Nyul.

After your suggested improvement 19. Rb4 Qa2 20.Rxb7 Rfb8, then probably the next few moves would be:  21. Rb4 Rxb4 22. cxb4 Rb8 23. Qd2  leading to this position
