Free board in Chess.com

In chess.com, for self-analysis purposes, is there any way to get a "free" board that the user can move both sides' pieces at will with no computer/analyzer input.  Often, I just want to be able to set up a situation and run through lines on my own.  Is that possible.

(Sure, I could simply set up a real board, but sometimes that's just not an option.)

Thanks for any suggestions,

You can’t do what you describe for live games.

It is allowed for daily games. Click on the button with a chessboard and magnifying glass.

you can go to learn and then analysis

lol, this thread was made over a year ago. But yeah, since the OP still seems to be here, going to analysis with show lines turned off and self analysis turned on will do it.

For a daily game, it’s easier to click/tap on the analysis button next to the chessboard.

I have a follow up question to this; I am able to get to the Analysis which allows me to play both sides.  However, I would like to get to a certain point in a game where I can attempt to find the best move or understand why a move was made.  I would prefer to not make all the previous moves that got the game to this position.  In the analysis mode I have to make legal moves, is there a way to just set pieces where I want and remove pieces that have been taken?

If you copy the pgn and paste it I think you can do it that way.

Set-up lets you manually set up the board. Copying the FEN will let you pick a specific position if you have the FEN, which is generally faster than doing it manually. Even taking the game PGN and just clicking the turn you want to be on will do it. (If you forget and hit the wrong one by a couple of turns you can still just click through the few moves you missed by until you got there.)
