Many of us have come to embrace flagging as a unique aspect of online chess, and many have even learned to perfect the art, players such as Andrew Tang, Daniel Naroditsky, Aman Hambleton, and many more, some of whom may not even be top grandmasters, but still excellent flaggers. These are the people I would like to reach out to and ask, "What is good flagging technique?" I feel this is a topic that not to many people talk about, maybe because some see it as disrespectful, while others may think it is silly to talk about anything not related to improving your actual chess skill. But since none of us mind a few extra points here and there in our online chess sessions, why don't we dive into the topic and see what we can discover.
P.S. Here is the game that inspired me to start this forum. I was constantly down on the clock (something that I do a lot unfortunately) but was able to bring the game down to a time scramble where I was just a few seconds below my opponent. As you can guess, being down on the clock in a completely equal position, I did end up flagging. While the result was expected, I was a little regretful of my technique and felt I could improve my flagging abilities in the future. Please review my starting from move 56 and feel free to add other games where you think good/bad flagging technique was shown.
