- Didn't black miss 8. ... Nxe4
- and 9. ... Nxe4
- I agree that around move 13, black doesn't have a lot to worry about, because of the strong center.
- Yes, 19.Re7 looks good. Play might continue Re7 Rd8 Qd5 Nf6 Rxc7 Nxd5 Rxa7
- I think black is better after 22. ... Bxc6
- I don't think that white misplayed it so much as I think that black misplayed it. In general, I'd prefer the pieces to the rook. Black blundered with 34: ... Rxb4 -- I think better was Bb5
help me with my missed moves,

I'm probably missing something, but isn't 8... Nxe4 refuted by 9. Bxe7 Qxe7 10. Nxe4?
[edit: Or is 8... Nxe4 9. Bxe7 Nxc3 10. Bxd8 Nxd1 11. Rxd1 Kxd8 the line you had in mind?]

At 26, I wouldn't have pushed that pawn. You have two rooks, so I'd go for control of the center, but first, push those two pawns on the left to try and threaten a promotion. With the rook behind one, it's a very strong position even against three pieces
So after 25...Rc8 I would try b5 to threaten the bishop and get the pawns forward. After he inevitably moves his bishop, push pawn again to b6. Now his rook is in trouble, because the pawn threat is close and if he moves it you can threaten checkmate with a back rank rook. If he moved the bishop to block the pawn, then get control of the center with the rooks (Ra4). If he didn't block the pawn, I'd push it again to threaten the rook. After that, you should be able to threaten checkmate, pawn promotion, or a rook at e7. From there, it should be quite easy to win.

thats the line i had in my mind, to exchange his good bishop, you see it loses a pawn, for black, i had actually focused on both lines you mentioned during the game grobe, i think the first one is better for black, and the second better for white,

Well the first one loses a piece for black.
The whole point of the tactic is that black wins the e4 pawn. It is a real threat and not something that white should allow. Note that even Bd3 instead of Be2 doesn't defend against the threat, because it's not about defending the e4 pawn, it's about defending the g5 bishop, or at least removing the queen from d1, so that Nxc3 doesn't come with tempo.

Yeah -- I saw the second line immediately after I'd posted, hence the edit. It seems that I've got exactly the same problem with the submit comment button as I do with the submit move button: I only get the key insight into a position after clicking it.
I guess my concern is that even as black I think I'd be hesitant to enter into the second line. I'm just not convinced I'd want to forfeit my castling rights in exchange for that pawn, although perhaps with the Queens off the board it's not so bad....
Although I know now, i should not have accepted the draw, I know that there is a move I missed before the move 34 that lead me to somehow get into that position, it seems in these long (3hour plus) otb games at the club, all I can do these days is draw, DRAW DRAW DRAW, any comments pls
