How to read Computer Chess Engine analysis

I am using Lucas and ScidvsPC chess programs to analyze my games. I'm new to computer analysis and I find it really confusing to inrterpret the numerical values and the 'Lost Points' notation used to evaluate the quality of moves.

I need some help to understand what it means and how to interpret it.

Thank You!

So for example, you are white, at move 12 you played a move which gives (-2.00) as evaluation, while the computer found a move for white (at move 12) which evaluates the position as (+3.00). This means you lost 5.00 points, i.e. a full rook.

The +numbers are good for white and the -number are good for black. You can "score" based on your position, or capturing pieces. Standard piece values apply, so Pawn for "1", Rook for "5", ect. and great positional play scores you points as well. When it says "+Mat#" it means a forced mate appears in the # of moves expressed in that numerical value.

There's another thing like "Ultm" where your position is so strong that it cant express it, but I cant remember exaclty. I havnt had a game like that in a while. I know your postion can be +/-50, but there is something "better" than that.
