How to throw away a win in 5 moves

Sometimes while playing blitz, you just shoot yourself in the foot. This was one of those times. Mikhail Tal, I am not...

Any analysis is appreciated :)

waffllemaster

5...Bb6 is perfectly reasonable.  It's not clear if 5...Bd4 is better as white could simply kick it again with 6.c3

Your opponent had 8.c4 with c5 to trap your bishop.  And for a few moves after too.

15...Bxh3 is not bad.  Also possible was bringing your rook into it with 15...Rf6 which is a common attacking move.

You also had 17...Rxf2 18.Nxf2 Qg3+ with mate next move.

You could have fought on with the in between move 20...Qg5+ winning the white queen.

In your variation starting 15...Qxh3 (which is a fine move) 17...Qf3 is not an exclaim move, it's a blunder because you're throwing your attack away (why are you trading queens?)  Again, 17...Rf6 is better, and should be mate in a move or two.

At 17 I would have played RxR then if NxR Qg3

I think that wafflemaster meant 20...Qg4+, which does indeed win you the game immediately. I don't agree at all with some of your evalutations; for example, 5...d5 and 9...Be6 seem perfectly fine to me. Opening the center there is not bad, and where else are you going to put the bishop?

Also, I fail to see why you didn't simply win the exchange on move 16 by taking his rook on f1. Doesn't that give you a winning advantage?

Stupid comment of the day award.

Someone is upset they lost a game as white.

Kramnik?

World champions lose playing white moron. You going to say they suck as chess too?

He has to be trolling. The highest rated player he's beat as white was 1054.

Little-Ninja

White needs to develop more. To many pawn moves for my liking in the opening phase of the game.

Blacks move 6 is fine. Controling the center and making him/her have to do something about it. Move 9 Be6 is a solid move to me, i wouldnt have liked Bd4 as much because it trades a good bishop off.

Its at move 15 you started failing your attack. I would have played 9.Qg3+ because your dark squared bishop prevents it going anywhere. Then played Qxh3+ followed by Bg4 threatening the whites queen and planning on putting it on f3.

move 16: Bxf2+ was fine. If Nxf2 you simply player Qg3+ with mate to follow. Move 17: Rad8 was mistake. Owing the fact u already had psychologically defeated yourself at this point. Best move was simply taking the echanging Rooks and then playing Qg3+ with mate on g2 to follow. So you had the right idea, you just messed it up is all.Happens to all of us.

But I only played two games.

World champions do lose from both sides. I have never seen or heard of a world champion that wins all their games yet. If you know of any by all means let me know.

900 players on here are still just beginners. Players like me would be mediocre/average in my opinion.

NinjaHedgehog

There isn't, hasn't been, or likely ever will be, a world champion who has never lost a game. Everyone loses as white at some point, you moron.

Scottrf

Huge advantage Laughing

Little-Ninja

When or IF you become anywhere near as good as them, then you can have that opinion. In the mean time beginner you dont know crap about the game. World champions become such, because they win at games more then they lose and earn the right through a match who is the best. Even the highest rated player loses with white and he over 2830. Even Garry Kasparov who was world champion from 1985-2000 lost with the white side. He has the world record currently for highest rating ever at 2850 i believe. So you see, even the best players in the world lose from both sides. The competition is always strong enough to make it impossible to win every game u play.

Scottrf

He's trolling, check his analysis of white being up a rook. To be fair he's funnier than some.

True. He clearly is an idiot. Clearly hasnt studied chess well enough to know having white is not a "huge" advantage at all. its a slight advantage at best. Owing only to the fact you have first move.

Yeah whatever, you have no proof and you're clearly disturbed that you think so highly of yourself because you have a 2000 rating and you lost as white. I only played 2 games so you don't know my skill.

My poof is in the fact i have spent years studying the games and have NEVER seen any player no matter how good they are win every game they play. If you can find me a player that does, let me know.

I think i am mediocre moron as i have mentioned before. I am over 2000 on here because i have more time and options through correspondence. I was about 1700 OTB before i stopped playing tournaments due to costs and busy life in general.

You are not even 2000 on here and you think u know what chess is about? You need to get real with yourself, because you clearly have to high an opinion of yourself to be suggesting a world champ shouldn't lose with white. When i played my first game i played someone over 1300 and then played 1700 and went from there. I am no master, but i reckon i would smack u around pretty easily. So when or if u get closer to my level, then by all means lets see if you are any good.

You can loose a game in less than 5 moves...

I have never lost a single game of chess OTB in my entire life. I use live to have fun, try losing strategies, and play drunk.

Little-Ninja

Then you havent played anyone who is any good. Try entering a proper tournament or chess club.

You have lost live games, so that's the next best thing to otb games. So you can't say you haven't lost.

ChessisGood

I think you need some work on position evaluation. Your mistakes were not necessarily the ones you noted, and there were a lot of tactics there.
