I hate people like you...

I'm pretty shocked that someone actually got upset that their opponent DID resign.
I and most others get a little annoyed when the opponent DOESN'T throw in the towel, but sometimes you can turn it around into fun. I make sure I'm not going to stalemate the opponent, then I hem him into two squares and promote all my pawns to Rooks, followed by giving them all away one at a time except one before checkmating him. See, that turns the irritation around on him and makes it fun for you. They'll usually resign at some point when they see that happening. Heehee.
I know this is the opposite problem the original poster is having, but the moral of the story is, find a way to turn your irritation and their smugness around. Turn that frown upside down! :)

You cannot please all people - some people get angry if you do not (timely) resign, some people get angry if you DO resign!

people don't understand the rules of chess? it's your game, you resign WHENEVER you want! these endless threads make no sense, can we start the new year with a new leaf? If you can't grasp the basic rules don't play the game, oh, and to cover the forums that will be posted on slow play tomorrow, if you don't want to wait 3 days for your opponent to move, don't play 3 day move ?

You are using some very strong and crude terms such as ' hate', 'yellow', 'cop out' etc. You are entitled to having your opinion about resignations (though frankly I am hardly interested in the opinions of beginners lecturing about the manners of a centuries-old game) but this language borders on harrassment. Am I wrong to infer that, if you are using such language in a public forum, you will be saying even worse things to your opponent in game chat ?
