Miss?

Checking game review, I noticed they replaces miss with missed win. Are they the same thing?

Was wondering about this too, searched on googs and found this post. I'm wondering if chess.com made a post/announcement about this change.

It seems similar to missed win, but when  you hover over "miss" during the review, the text explanation that pops up reads "A move that missed a tactical opportunity or a chance to punish the opponent."

So it seems similar to missed win, but with some subtle semantical differences.

It replaces Missed Win but includes additional items

  • New Miss Classification - Sometimes a move is bad not because something went horribly wrong with your own position, but because you failed to punish your opponent’s bad move. For example: you’re in an even game, your opponent gives you the opportunity to fork and win a piece, but you just make a normal continuing move as if nothing happened. These cases will be covered by a new classification called Miss, which will be denoted with a Ø glyph.

With the introduction of the new Miss Move Category, they also have modified the Blunder Move Category.

Here's what they said on FB:

"We've just released an update to two move classifications in Game Review!
Moving forward, a "blunder" must lose material or allow a forced checkmate.
Previously, a good move that missed an opportunity would be considered a blunder or a mistake. Now such moves will be a Miss.

We think these more human-like definitions will better help you learn from your games by pinpointing concrete mistakes and missed opportunities."

If you're a player like me with a main goal to reduce my Blunders, these changes are very much welcomed!
