I would like to get my games analyzed.

I have never annotated a game of mine before or viewed annotations of other games.

What steps should I take and what info should I provide.

What is the layout like of an annotated game.

How do I post the game with my annotations on this forum.

Thanks for any help

If you search for "annotated pgn" on Google you'll find a lot of them there. I'd recommend making a small note after each move. At the end of the day, the more detailed it is, the better someone else can help you because they'll have a greater understanding of your thought process.

Thanks

If i email a pgn of my game to myself can i add comments to the pgn after each move or do i need special software to do it.

Im using an android phone with the chess.com app. Is there an app that allows you to annotate pgns and is it compatible with android. My plan was to convert the pgn to a text file , then add my commments after every move and then send it to a reviwer. Is it possible to do it that way

All you have to do is add the comments in curly brackets { and } so it would look like this:

1. e4 {controls centre} 1... e5 2. Nf3 {develops knight} 2... Nc6

Obviously a chess program does it automatically when you type on the screen next to the moves, but if you want to manually edit the pgn file, you'd have to do it like the above.

Not sure about the app.

Hi mate - try posting on this thread and click the chess board icon in the top menu bar and choose "Game or sequence of moves" then you can paste in a PGN and edit it through the pop up, adding variations and comments.  YOu will need to download the PGN from yr game first.  Alternatively use game editor on the More menu at the top and you can import and export into that.  I think there should be a help page with more details - not sure if you can do it with an android app.

The way you'll annotate your games is up to you. There are no rules. But usually annotations describe your thoughts about positions in the game (and/or variations, as far as both are interconnected).

On chess.com, to post an annotated game, you can click the "Insert position or game" button (board button), then enter the game and add notes to the positions. There's info about that on http://www.chess.com/posting_help#chess.
