Need some help with insane game

I recently played a 5+0 game on FICS where the position was pretty crazy for a while - I had no idea who was winning. Can anyone help me figure it out?

White is definitely better .... If he played 11.. Ne5+ the queen will die soon.

Btw... I thought you played good... You just missed the Bishop sac on f7 which caused all sorts of issues.

Ah, yes, I missed that.

Here's proof that you really can learn from your games and losses. Just now I logged back in to FICS and played this 5+0 game (although it was against someone rated quite a bit lower than me)...

Yeah d3 was horrible on white's part.

On your first game posted above, after 7. Rf1, which your opponent did to avoid the rook/queen fork with black's prior looming move Nf2, you could have castled kingside to avoid Bxf7 (placing your rook underneath the f7 pawn) and the ensuing chase of your king all over the board. White must then defend his rook to avoid losing it by ...NxF1.

I think white missed a winning forcing sequence with 12. Ne5+, so definitely stood better

Black's reply is a forced Ke8 (Kd6 allows Nf7+ and the queen is lost; Ke7 allows Bg5 and a skewer).

13. Qh5+ forces the reply g6 (as Bg5+ and the skewer is still on).

14. Bf7+ forces the black king to e7 (quick win if Kf8, ok to set up the skewer as the white queen is attacked too).

All over after 15. Ng6+

(see variations in the move list)

I see... Thanks! In the game, I saw the skewer and fork but saw Ke8 and decided to go for it. My intuition should have told me it was bad news, though.
