If you're at 600 you should be able to gain several hundred points by winning vs players who hang material if you can avoid doing this yourself. Take your time and think carefully on each move. I looked briefly at a couple of your recent games - in both you made an immediate attack on f7 with white. Not necessarily a bad strategy but always assume that your opponent will see your plan and defend it properly. Get all your pieces out, get your king castled and don't rush things. It's rare you will win in 15 moves so play with patience.

"I have been stuck at the 600 level"
A rating of 600 is a sign of frequent blunders.
Always check your intended move is no blunder before you play it.
Hang no pieces, hang no pawns.
Today I wrote down 5 things to check before every move (I know there is a lot more, but this is a decent start):
1.) Are there any checks in the next move for both sides?
2.) Are there any captures?
3.) Can I set up an attack or can my opponent?
4.) Will my move hang a piece or cause undefended pieces?
5.) If I move and my piece can be attacked -- do I have a safe escape square.
My goal is to take my hand off the mouse and look at the 5 items above before I move. I am playing the bots this morning and even though it sounds easy, I still get tunnel vision and forget to check the list!!!

Do you know why you lost the games you play? For example, are you moving a piece and then having one of your own pieces captured without them being recaptured? Are you making it to the end of the game and losing there? Are you getting a good position in the opening?
Here are some sources you can use...
1.) the book "weapons of chess" by bruce pandolfini
2.) the book Jeremy Silmans chess endgame course
3.) Dereque Kelley is a great resource on YouTube to learn openings and the middle game plans for each opening you play. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e95SLI3fcgk&t=8s This is one opening you can play that you can play as both white and black. This opening to most lower rated players nobody really knows how to checkmate the king in this opening. There are several ways this opening can be attacked, but its far easier to play a closed game with less tactics at your level.

I just looked at your last game. It seems you don't follow (and maybe are not aware of) the very basic opening principles. You do not need puzzles (or videos really) until you can open the game in a meaningful way. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gpsZAim-mYc
- Control the center(for beginner start with pawn)
- Get knights and bishops out (knights first)
- Get King safe
- Connect rooks
When you get to 1000, you can start considering specific openings, but understand the basics before trying to learn specifics. For now, see how many games you can play without taking any of your opponents peices (or losing any of your own) in the first 5 moves. If you're attacking by move 3, you're gonna lose to anyone over 1000.
Don't get me wrong, you really do need to be doing puzzles, but I think you'll get the quickest improvement from understanding how to setup during the opening.

If you can't get past 600, you might need tested for autism.
*Checks your rating*

i was stuck at 600. i took a week off and did nothing but puzzles. jumped to 800. now im stuck again,

and then the clock kills you.

3 things that helped me : finding an opening that I would like ( for me it's the italian game) and playing the opening serveral hundereds of times so you can be comfortable with your positon.
then, some things I like to do are look at some traps, those give me quick wins and may not be known to other players.
lastly, I do puzzles and watch youtube videos.

I think getting past 600 rating is easy. I think it requires quick thinking, don't hang pawns, don't to trades which will lead to a person's victory and don't make many blunders. I think that to do this play the Bot 'Aron' or if you have a membership, try Sanjay. Both are around the mark of 700, and to ease it try Assisted or even Custom. If needed hints, use as they will help you progress and have you think that way yourself.

700 bots are worse than 700 players, 700 players should play vs other 700's or 1100+ bots.
Hi all,
What do you all do when you feel like you're no longer improving? Recently, I have been stuck at the 600 level and cannot seem to beat opponents better than me. Are there any resources that I can use to better analyze my own games instead of the computer? Can anyone see the mistakes that I'm making as well as tips on making better decisions?
