Not thinking enough

I played a game in a tournament where I had two opportunities to win but I just played other moves that looked strong. This is proof of the adage "When you find a good move, look for a better one". The first mistake was when I failed to win the exchange, and the second mistake was when I made a correct sacrifice but turned the win into a draw with my following move. I was Black, and my USCF rating is mid-1600s. My opponent was about 1600. The time control was G/75.
