By playing 26...Bxg6, white would have played 27. Qxg6 threatening to open both g and h file. This would not be good for black, since black's h pawn would have been unchallenged. I didn't want to give white any direct attacking chances.
I like playing these types of games. For the greater part of the game, I was playing defense. Then, seemingly out of the blue, my opponent is reminded that he or she also has a king. Enjoy!
