pawns vs. pieces- help me

Here I played black against a stronger opponent.  I traded 2 major pieces for 4 pawns and exposed his king.  I turned down a perpetual check draw at move 35 thinking I could find the win.  Then everything fell apart.  Would you take the draw at move 35 or push for victory?

2 peices for 4 pawns is usually not good unless u can get a mating attack - fast, or u are in a position to queen - fast. Otherwise better settle for a draw i think - if u can that is.

Actually, I made some mistakes. I don't think your sacraficial attack was all that sound to begin with. A very common mistake with young players is to make a bold sacrafice without figuring everything out.

Yes, you should have gone for the draw while you had the chance. I was surprised when you didn't.

You're nuts! But I love the devil-may-care aggression, and you did get a draw out of it even if you didn't have the sense to accept it. In general four pawns for two pieces is completely losing and you sac'd the exchange on top of it! You were down a rook and bishop for four pawns. No that's not sound unless you've got a calculated draw or win, or you're Bobby Fischer and you see things the rest of us don't.

I don't know for sure where Nimzoblanca went wrong but the first place I'd look for a refutation to your N and Rook for 4 pawns idea is 33.Be4... this move looks like a waste of a tempo to me. I think Nimzo thought you were playing pure slop and he relaxed and underestimated you and played a centralizing move, not bothering to calculate that you could win a rook back with the check. The lesson there is: don't take anything for granted, never stop thinking! He'd be kicking himself, hard, if you'd gotten away with the draw you hadn't really earned.  33.Bd2 was probably all he needed to squelch your game.

Black played an excellent game until move 36... f5?? (drunken blunder: black completely lost any sense of material after so many sacs :)) Black had 4 pawns vs a piece and it is more than enough to win. Black should be proud of this game because they played so well and only lost to a blunder that is 36... f5. Keep up the tactics and try to reduce mistakes. Nice game
