It looks like what happened is your opponent recently signed up. They have only played 2 games at different time controls. This means each game is evaluated with a different rating. It shows they gained 832 points with an initial rating of 800. You got points too which seems strange. I thought if you lose you lose points. You got 548 with an initial rating of 1200.
They didn't sign up and adjust their rating accordingly. I don't work for chess.com but I don't think they will do anything. It is an odd curiosity and nothing else. Maybe this is how they do it now, pair up people who haven't played many games and give points based on accuracy?
It's more of a question of dishing out points than opponent play. Look at the details of the game.
One way to avoid this in the future is to go to your gear setting in the live area, Click on the graph tab and adjust who you play. I set mine to -50 and +100. This means only players 50 below and 100 above play me. You won't get wonky rating adjustments like this.
You haven't lost to anyone near 1000 on this site, so why are you complaining about it on here?
That's not true. The person they lost to was 800 initially while they were 1200.
Here is the game in question. You can do the research to come to the same conclusion I laid out earlier.

That's not true. I was right. He is not anywhere near 1000 - he's 1632.
That was the points added. You need to subtract 832 to get the rating before he won. He was 800.
It comes off like he was sandbagging, but he simply didn't say he was a higher rated 45 minute game player and the OP didn't realize this.
I looked at both games by your opponent. Some of the moves are insane and this guy plays nothing but engine recommendations. Report this player and hope that chesscom actually does anything about it.
I would love to hear the guy's explanation on 10.Nc2. Over the next few moves, he clamped down your position with A0s accuracy. Moves 33 and 34 are straight up engine waiting moves. Move 43 Rxd5! The guy doesn't skip a beat even when he has a massive advantage. He then allows 52... d2 even though he can afford to loose a couple of pawns to stop black from queening. But then, engines don't care about fear. They always play the most efficient moves.
His other game is nothing short of spectacular with 13 centipawn accuracy and 1-0-1 errors in an 82 move game masterpiece. The guy claims to be from the USA, can't spell, but plays like A0. I don't think so. Report and block him.
"I looked at both games by your opponent."
Which 2 games are you talking about? I only see one.
What does my comment say? See the first sentence.
I have been watching some youtube chess streamers where they catch cheaters and they are banned within the time they are doing the stream. I reported a guy I played a few days ago, it is quite clear to me that he is cheating based on the stats he has. Does anyone have any experience on how long it takes before they are banned?
So, I do not mind losing, and I do not mind losing to a player significantly below me in rating. Such is life :-)
But when a player rated 1000 plays with 98% accuracy and when 2/3 of his moves are rated 'best moves' by the computer? That seems a bit fishy to me.
Anything can be done about that?
