"Show Line" in Game Review

I've noticed over the last few days, in Game Review, when reviewing my games (or other's games) when I click on "Show line" for either the actual move, or the one the game gives as "best move",  that it only plays 1 move ahead, whereas in the past the show line would do a sequence of 4-6 moves.   This is obviously not as beneficial as it was for the user.   When creating the game review it says "Depth 18".

Is there a setting I maybe changed accidentally or did chess.com limit this for some reason?

Hey there! We made a change to how Show Line works. Now, Show Line looks forward to the most natural stopping point in a line. This might be the end of a sequence of captures, or a point in the game where there are many good plans or moves. Not all positions have one clearly best line going forward, so they don’t have a “Show Line”

@drittman13 It's not working. It shows one move with one pawn being taken and shows a score of -4. It's not clear how the loss of one pawn equates to -4. Would you consider changing it back to how it used to work?

In another case, it says the best move is a better way to threaten material, and then shows three moves with a net loss of material. Was the change tested with users?

Can you link to the game reviews?
In many cases, more moves in the engine line still won't explain why being down one pawn can lead to a -4 eval. It's more about general positional understanding about why, in the long term, one side has such a big advantage.

And yes, the change was tested on users. Also, if you do want to see more moves, you can always check the Analysis tab and add in deeper engine lines happy.png

But if it's about position, the review should mention that. How does "You overlooked a better way to threaten winning material. " explain why it's a "blunder"? See 7. ... b5

In the same review, see move marked best for "

d5
is best
+0.40
You are now threatening to win material." Then the line shows you just losing the pawn "8. Nxd5 Nxd5 9. Qxd5 ".

This is the understatement of the year.

Analysis not only provides "deeper engine lines", it also lets you try moves and check the engine's evaluation and top moves for any position, going back and forth, as you wish.

Honestly, I think that game review is really really really bad. Maybe it can be used for something some way, but no human can figure out what that is.

Yeah, I think the text in game review is basically meaningless. After 33, it's mate in one. There are two responses, both of which allow mate. Yet the move chosen is labeled "very precise". lol

You are precisely mated.

Is someone from Chess.com going to respond to this?

The text is meaningless, so why have it if you aren't going to explain it?
