Some advice

Hello everyone.  I'm looking for some advice on what I could have done better, even though I won this game.  Anyone's advice would be appreciated. Thank you.

7... Ng4

was useless

total waste of a move.  don't waste your moves is one piece of advice i'd give you.  i should stsrt doing that.

I agree. Ng4 was not only pointless, it was without merit. Now, I have a rule of thumb you might find useful. 'Don't make dumb moves'.  I have another rule which you might find usefuler, 'Don't move the same piece twice in the opening phase unless it is WINNING or NECESSARY'. Your Ng4 fits neither. Pehaps, once you have completed your development, an "in your face" move like that might prove more useful as it might provoke him to create weaknesses by chasing it away with a pawn. Also, on move 13, your knight is under attack, you chose not to move it but instead you played your pawn to d4. What the hell were you thinking??

13...,d4 was to open either the a file or the d file with a sac of either a pawn or a piece.

I like your fighting spirit with your willingness to sac material, however giving up a knight  for a half-open d file, with hardly any piece development doesn't seem like a good idea to me. Your bishop is about to get swapped off, and what will you have left to attack with? White has adequate defensive resources there. Not enough compensation for what you're giving up so I don't buy it.

Trading Bishops would have led to moves 17 and 18 sooner. I see what your saying though, a more aggressive player would have taken advantage of the loss of tempo and equality.

Also, if anyone would like to annotate this game for me, that would be cool too.

yes, it does, though 16. ... axb6 17. Qxa8 Qxa8 18. Bxd4 is not a disaster. See my analysis of the game above.
