Stockfish Changing its mind

I was analyzing a position and trying to play thru using the top line and I noticed that move feedback didn’t agree with the Stockfish recommended move.

For example it would say that the next move should be (whatever move), I’d make that move then it would say that it’s good and (something else) is best. So I’d back up a move, play the best move and feedback would agree that it’s best move.

It was quite annoying to work thru the line like this, as it happened several times during my analysis session.

Why is it doing this?

If you're seeing the local engine disagreeing with the Game Review results, it's likely due to the local instance getting deeper into the evaluation.

If you're seeing that on the local instance where stepping into a suggested line changes to a worse evaluation, that's something that can happen in complex positions that the engine doesn't really handle well.
