The fried liver attack is the best white opening ever

I play the fried liver attack 100% of the time as white, hoping that my opponent will fall for it. It feels like one out of every 5 games is won easily using the fried liver attack. I will never switch openings again.

As you progress, you will probably encounter (with increasing frequency):

The Traxler line is quite dangerous (the first line @kindaspongey posted) and it happens to be my favorite line. Black gives up a Bishop (and if your opponent is foolish, they snatch the rook) and black attacks like mad.

First line I posted:

Sure you will.

I agree the fried liver is worth a try because white has at least a pawn advantage in all the lines or a crushing attack. The traxler is dangerous for white but if white is careful, he's just winning.

How can white survive the traxler?

So white should play Bc4 and castle. Any one wanting to challenge me playing black and this opening?

By definition you cannot play the Fried Liver with white. It is only a Fried Liver if black plays the lemon 5.Nxd5 instead of 5.Na5 or 5.b5

Actually, 5...Nxd5 is objectively a better move than 5...b5 or 5...Nd4. Black should avoid it because his play after entering the main lines is absolutely forced- he is not allowed a single small mistake.

Well OK, but if you needed to win with white in the final round of a tournament to take 1st place and somebody played this against you I'm sure you would be delighted.

At this point, I have seen 8...Nd5 suggested.

I prefer b5 over na5

Here's a nice stunt you can pull off with white.

I love that last one!

The only downside I see is the lost tempo after 9...d6, and the fact black's bishop is pretty strong.

Hopefully white can fianchetto on b2 and replace the knight on f3 while black is fumbling to castle by hand, or at least that's how I see it.

Gotta say Ellen....Boy you are a good player!

Someone all should try to emulate.

I appreciate the kind words, but I am no master.

Don't be so modest. You deserve your success.

I have seen 4...Bxd4 suggested as an alternative to 4...exd4.

If 5. Nxd4 and Be3,  black must retreat to c6 or white regains the material.

With the main line shown here, white trades one pawn for the bishop pair and a wide open center. White has what I think the masters call harmony with the queen and bishops.

I found a game that started with 1 e4 e5 2 Nf3 Nc6 3 Bc4 Bc5 4 d4 Bxd4 5 Nxd4 Nxd4 6 Be3, but:
