Most have notation books. I recently noticed another player at a tournament looking at past notations during a current game. There it was in his lap and the pages could hardly stay closed. You know, some chess books you have to bend and fold for them to stay open, especially when new. But there it was past notation from a previous game for him to see and use. He was clearly looking at past notation. Is this a violation or acceptable in regards to US Chess or FIDE???
After, thinking about it. How could past notation really help you in the current game you are playing? I believe this happens often than not, but no one ever does anything about it.
You aren't allowed to consult ANY written material during an otb (over-the-board) tournament. You aren't even allowed to write your move down until after you've made it on the board.
