If your king is in check, and you have no legal moves (your king is guaranteed to be captured next turn)
that is called being checkmated and you lose.

If you checkmate your opponent, you win,

do you only win by people resigning or running out of time or abandonment checkmate is when the king is in check they can block it or capture it at all and if the king moves anywhere legal he would still be in check

I mean most 200 elos are new to Chess so you cant blame hime for not knowing what checkmate was once you didn't know what checkmate was. Me too

Checkmate, is when a piece, called your king, is in check and cannot move anywhere else on the board that it can go. So, the other opponent would win.

its probably not he played blitz and no offense Youssef khb but at the 200 level I made an account and tried losing every game I played so I could get to 100 meaning somehow trying to lose I would at the 200 level blunders are everywhere.

Simplified:

When you check your opponent's king and it can't go anywhere.

Checkmate in chess is when a player's king is under attack and cannot escape. It means that player loses the game.

Yes, the checkmate is that me or an opponent losses the game because the king cannot move anywhere at all.

This is my checkmates when I won at the live chess.

Just showing you my checkmates when the opponent has lost.

nobody is saying that if they can capture the checking block its not checkmate if I cant move the king and its check that doesn't mean its checkmate checkmate is when your in check your king cant move out of check other peices cant block the check or other peices cant capture the checking peice

KentexplorerchessW

for example

the king cant move anywhere in this position but it isn't checkmate they can block

in this position the king Still cant move out of check but not only can they block but they can take the queen because you wouldn't be in check if the checking peice is gone

I also have an opinion about when its checkmate in a few positions

I feel like this shouldn't be checkmate and they should be able to check with the rook and check the king if you take my king I take yours and if you escape check I take the queen and will win the game later I feel like you should be able to keep checking the king in chess until eventually theres no checks.
