Capture is escaping (if capturing with the king) or blocking (if another piece is capturing the checking piece)

Chess players use blocking to mean blocking. Capturing the checking piece is different.

Then the king would have already been captured, the game would have been over. Could be a variant tho

Well, if you king is in check, and have no legal moves, that is called checkmate ansd you lose.

#13 that’s not a reachable position. You can’t have more than 8 extra pieces than what you start with (via promotion)

That actually is a reachable position. You have to go to an empty board and manually add those extra pieces
