Let's say I need a rook on the d-file. (Assume that neither rook is serving any defensive purpose where it currently is.) I look at the board and find the most likely file to which I may need to move my other rook. If that is file e-h, I'll move my queenside rook (to d file), if it's a-c, I'll move my kingside rook (to d file).
Diificult to explain. If you have a choice of either rook to move; how do you decide which one?the one on the left or the one on the right? thx
