White's turn...Who wins?

My name is John Agda. I have been using this site for playing only for quite some time now.  This is my first post...and I need help. I play black. I'm down by one pawn but I have the threat of promotion coming up. But a draw is a predicted result. Can anyone change that?

Looks like a dead draw to me. Neither king can advance into enemy territory because of passed pawns.

WanderingWinder

White wins. The key move is c3!, where white can, at the right moment, trade hsi f pawn for white's g-pawn. Then, he uses his king to hold off the black h-pawn while his two passers one file apart can sustain each other.

I'm not sure...looks like black is in a zugzwang.  So only the king can move without a piece being lost while white can move the c pawn

Go back one more move and i couldve won

By moving to H3 instead i can win this game

I don't unerstand this comment a) because you aren't the OP, b) I'm interpreting it that you're black, but then how could you move to h3? With what piece? and most of all c) the posted position, black to move, is drawn, with the key move being 1...Ke5

There's no need to go back one move. Wonderingwinder's 1.c3 wins.

 On 2...Kc5 then 3.e5 saving the c-pawn.

k i was his opponent and i am white, the reason i had black to move is cause for his last move he could have chosen a different spot than c5

if in that origanally posted one i had move to c3 he wouldve pushed his king to c4 ultimately stopping that

if i instead moved (1 move proir to that) white king to h3, that would prevent his ability to push the h4 pawn giving me the advantage to win

just let me clear this up, this is what origanally happened

this is what i shouldve done

then he can choose to move his king anywhere but enevitably i can now win the match since i am blocking the advancement of his h pawn

I understand now. However, in the originally posted position, on 1.c3 Kc4 white has 2.e5 and black can't take on c3 because the e-pawn will promote.

In the second position, black has a draw by 1...Ke5. If he instead plays 1...Kc5, white would allow a draw if he played 2.Kh3 because black has 2...Kd4. If however, you mean 1...h4+, then white has a few winning moves, 2.Kg4 being the simplest, whereas 2.Kh3 actually gives black some pretty good drawing chances: 2...Ke5 3.Kg2 Kf4 4.Kf2 h3 5.e5 Kxe5 6.Kg3 h2 7.Kxh2 Kd4 8.Kg3 Kc3 9.Kg4 Kb4 10.Kxg5 Kxa4 11.f4 Kb5 12.f5 a4 13.f6 a3 etc. where white queens the same turn as black, with an extra pawn, true, but it's not so easy to convert the advantage.

lidios: In your 1st diagram, 2. e5?? is a critical blunder, allowing a draw (the last diagram position is drawn since White can blockade in time). The key is 2. f4!, challenging g5, where White will pick up Black's connected passers and win since the e4 pawn defends both a4 and c3 tactically.

WanderingWinder

I'm sorry, e5 wasn't the right move; I'd only looked quickly and put glanced at the wrong move of my analysis. After ...Kc4 the correct move is f4 (Kh3 works too, but f4 is more direct from my perspective) and after ...gxf4 then Kxf4.

Incidentally, your last position is a basic draw: 6.Ke4 Kb4 7.Kd4 Kxa4 8.Kc4 with a basic draw, which I can explain further if necessary.

This is very simple endgame actually. With c3 as the first move.

What if I return to d6?
