keep playing and start paying attention to what you're doing.

i don't get it, what's pinned?

joshgregory7

a pin is when a piece would be attacking a more valuable piece but there is something in the way examples:

KripTik

Use the tactics trainer and play games against good players and you'll get better.

Swakefield

oh white to  move lmao

erikido23

i don't see how the post is related to the  topic.  But, what you posted is simply an attack-the bishop is threatening to capture the queen.

If black plays n-f6 then the knight WOULD be pinned by the bishop (the bishop is less valuable than the queen so you wouldn't want to move the knight away with the queen behind it)

But, those are just lables. Worry about getting better at playing better moves.

Is this called a pin...

No, not really. It depends on the perspective how you would call that position.

From black's side it would be a "OMG I'm pawned"

From white's side it would be a "who's your daddy go play checkers"

pushwood

Play me- I suck too!

tylercole12

u dont want to play against people that suck to. play against people that are better than u then u can learn from ur mistakes. and remember to always check ur pieces 3 times before u move ur piece.

jpd303

u r still very young, play lots, learn from your losses, study tactics and dont give up...my initial rating was 800...im still no good but i understand alot more and appreciate the good players games (i play around 1550 or so)...dont give up

There is a lot of sources where you can go to get better. There is Tactics trainer and Chess mentor at this site and there are other sources away from this site that you can check, like the library; you could put a search on utube for Chess and you'll have more materal than you can handle.

Don't worry, I am not the best player but i still win a few times. Just use chess mentor and other stuff

Do you study as well? If not then that's probably why.. I think it was Emanuel Lasker who said that he could improve a student's performance more in a few hours of teaching than they would gain from a lifetime of trial and error.
