I saw that it was a 30 minutes game so time was not too short to think.
13 move checkmate

Yup, White was too slow on the uptake. 12. Qf3 and 13. Qg2 saves it. It has to be that way because Black's threatening to mate on either h1, as in the game, or h2. Enjoy these moments!

not true 12. Qf3 is met by 12 ... Nd4 with black winning. Whites only hope was 12. Qg4 Qxh4 13. Qxh4 Rxh4. even then black still has the advantage. So very well played zebedee26!!!

You're right about 12. ... Nd4 because of 13. Qg2, Ne2#!, but you're quite wrong about 12. Qg4???, Qxh4 because (a) there is nothing on h4 for Black to take and (b) 12. ... Qxg4 picks up the White Queen for nothing. Bad day at the office for us both, it looks like!
Maybe 12. f3 allowing White to "uncastle" is best, but Black's still standing better.

i think what happened when i posted that i thought for some strange reason that the white pawn on h5 protected the g4 square. 12. f3 for white seems to be the only move that doesnt end in catastrophe for white
Just pulled off a less that 15 move checkmate on someone 600+ rating points higher that me.
Very strange
I realised after it was unrated
