A Good Knight's Sleep

Last night I lost a lot of rating points: having played until 6am UK time. I was determined to break my losing streak and today I played possibly the best game I have ever played on this website (playing with the white pieces). I was shocked to find that I had played with an accuracy of 97.4% and a rating of 2600 elo according to the Game Review (OMG). I have to share this one with you.

My opponent blundered on move 15. In all honesty, I didn't see that many moves ahead. What I did see was that my opponent's pieces were awkwardly placed and that I could create two passed pawns on the queenside. I managed to produce a positional squeeze (avoiding any counter-play) and started to push the pawns. Black resigned on move 27.

Rapid 15+10

Something important came up, so I'm a bit late responding Thanks for the heads up happy.png It's a game I will remember. I wish I had more time to study and (especially) play the endgame better. It was a short game.

Ah no worries happy. One thing that I want to add: If you want to share another game then you should write in the analysis board what you were thinking when you played a move. Just for the important moves or/and for the ones who are not so clear. So is it easier to give suggestions for improvement.

Absolutely a good idea. I remember during the game expecting my opponent to play 13 . . . Bxc4. I was surprised by 13 . . . Rfe8 (protecting the pawn on e7). I had considered 13 . . . Bxc4, 14. Nd5 Qxd2, 15. Nxe7+ but I wasn't entirely sure about the outcome (which was not to be). Now I look again and it seems my opponent was justified playing 13 . . . Rfe8. It looks completely winning (for white) after 14. . . . Qxd2 in the line I was thinking.

After black's mistake 15 . . . b5? the game practically played itself. It's easy to understand why they call it the Maróczy Bind! wink.png
