The defense played was a variation of the pirc defense , not the kings indian . Pirc defense Austrian Attack .

black usually play d6 to make it harder for white to go for a breakthrough.
maybe ill comment some more on that game tomorrow.
seems like chess.com posted 8 parts video lectures on the pirc , you should watch it if you want to take on the pirc as your main weopn against 1.e4
