Since this is the showcase that asks for "great games" I was wondering if it meant we could talk about great games in general.
I don't want to start before getting this cleared up though. I have a board game in mind that I just found which seems a lot better than chess while maintaining its historical theme. I don't want to advertise the game, but just talk about its characteristics and explain why chess doesn't hold a candle to it.
(To be clear, I think Fischer's Chess 960 does a lot to improve on the game, but unfortunately, the raw legacy of chess will prevent it from adapting. The game is basically doomed to fade over the long-term because of its rigidity.)
