Botez gambit - inspired by Hikaru's youtube series

After watching Hikaru's Botez gambit series on youtube for a while, i decided to give it a shot. To my surprise, the game went quite well! After sac'ing the queen for a minor piece, i somehow played all the top moves and my opponent blundered! I didn't think it was possible to win against someone within my own rating range.

Post your Botez gambit games where you won!

Below a certain rating, you can hang your queen on move three and still have about a 50% winning chance. But alright, here's a Bongcloud Botez Gambit Bullet game played against an 1800 Lichess player (my rating).

That epic game easily tops any Botez Gambit.

This eleven year old kid again? What are you doing with your life to post hate comments on the forums? No one thinks you're funny or cool. No one values your input. No one cares about you. Get lost.

That game is so bad it looks faked.

I found it on lichess, and nothing immediately tells me it's staged, but still... really awful game.

The nice thing about queen sacs is that you can make the opponent believe they've already won.

This makes them less accurate allowing you to capitalize.

Sometimes this even happens when you get a rook and piece, or even a rook pair in exchange for your queen. And a lot of these cases you're up in the evaluation! The queen is overrated.

But yes, without enough compensation, early-game queen sacs typically don't work at higher levels because the opponent keeps playing good chess because he's playing the position on the board (the high cognition mind), not the human opponent (the drama mind).

Even in an endgame vs. a bishop pair, a queen will have to play very accurately if she wants to come out on top.

That is 100% not faked. I’ll take it as a compliment that you think it is.

Yeah, I don't think it's faked, but it's really gross... and I guess that is kind of a compliment? So sure, feel free to take it as one... but I don't want to look at that game again tongue.png

I get its a bullet game, but I am stunned that two 1800's somehow managed to play as if the number 1 in their ratings are non-existent.

Thats right, i guess i am at that rating range. Gave it a few more shots, here my opponent must have thought that the game was over once i "lost" my queen and started making moves instantly and losing all his pieces.

It is quite fun though trying to win a game with material deficit.
