Englund Gambit Games

I like playing this in blitz play - unfamiliarity can give an advantage.

Sometimes it works a treat after being accepted by someone unprepared (though almost help-mate really)

More exciting is when such obvious early blunders are not made. I was really pleased with this next game, coming from a rare occassion where the gambit was declined. I saw the future opportunities in the position at move 9 even though it looked innocuous, and pounced on an error from my opponent well. Almost a flawless attack!

very nice games

interesting. according to the http://www.chess.com/groups/forumview/list-of-gambits

the englund gambit is not too sound. but you wouldn't know from the games above.

tushu,

I'd say it was unsound - I wouldn't touch it in games longer than 5-10 minutes.

While it can open up an unprepared opponent's queenside very quickly, a prepared opponent or one with time to think will destroy it.

I didn't post the games I lost Tongue out

The way to beat the englund gambit is to give back the pawn and just develop normally.
