Evan's Gambit Massacre (15 Move Greek Gift Checkmate Miniature)...

Sort:
learningthemoves

If you like strong attacks, open lines, pretty piece sacrifices

like "The Greek Gift" and combinations that lead to the climax of a checkmate for the underdog,

then you'll love this game I played a few minutes ago using the Evan's Gambit as white. Cool

Enjoy!

*Disclaimer: The posting of my game here in the Game Showcase forum is simply to showcase my game for fun and entertainment purposes only. No analysis accepted here, but you can analyze to your heart's content over  at the Game Analysis forum where it's appropriate. If you don't like the moves played, then you are not my intended audience and would only waste your time posting here in my thread. With that out of the way, I hope you enjoy it as much as I had fun playing it.

14. .... Bg6 seems to hold (win, even).

Talking of unsound attacks.....

Here's a 14 mover I played on Live chess today:

mmmmisha

Black should have played 14...Bg6

it's not the true evans, maybe it has another name

learningthemoves

Yeah, if ...Bg6, then simply Qh4 and white is still very comfortable with the prospect of e6 on the next move winning material. If not the true Evan's, by any other name is still just as sweet to me.

i wonder if the pawn can be taken ...

learningthemoves

Yes, it certainly can, but at the cost of time for piece development. There's nothing wrong with winning the pawn on that move per se, but I prefer an edge in development.

This is fun. I almost wish I had posted one where I wanted some analysis now instead of creating my Game Showcase thread.

But, yeah, obviously I would have played differently if my opponent had played differently to get the checkmate...(or if they didn't make mistakes and the list goes on about the would've's, could'ves and should'ves.)

When I create my Game Showcase threads, it's only to post games where I won and had fun. Luck is often part of it. Usually I'll post miniatures.

I view it as more like a 'trophy' of sorts. Of course, someone could tell the winner of the Super Bowl, "You wouldn't be champion if the other team didn't fumble allowing you to score the winning touchdown" or "you didn't deserve the win" or "if it was me, you would have lost" or any other non-realities until they're blue in the face.

I think I'd just tell them to quit their whining and polish my trophy or in this case, just play through the moves again and see the true end result.

Not what someone else thinks should've been done against someone else or how they'd do it or if some other move could have been better.

Of course there are different variations and other moves. They're much better moves too.

But at the end of the day, they didn't get played and didn't influence the outcome one iota.

I create my Game Showcase threads for fun.

The Game Analysis threads are the ones to analyze. Maybe I'll have to post a disclaimer: For entertainment purposes only...Critics or analysts need not apply because I'm not looking for anyone else's input on these quick minis.

Here's another fun one...

The absurdly obvious Bg6 winning for black isn't really an analysis of the game. You came in here trying to impress people with  "calculated combinations that lead to the climax of a forced checkmate" is completely bogus. Were simply stating that your claims are unjustified and that the combination was so unsound that it made my brain hurt and made me wish I never clicked on the thread in the first place.

Oh okay. Thanks for commenting in my thread. Hope your brain feels better.

And by the way, I don't have the need  to try to impress anyone. Or to justify anything. If you had read what  I said when I said it was for fun and entertainment purposes only, you'd realize you either enjoyed it or didn't. Obviously you're one of the ones who didn't because you found a way to refute the combination. Big deal. The guy I played against didn't. I wasn't making a "claim" but simply showcasing a game. We do agree on one thing though. For all who felt it was their duty to post to try to 'point out' mistakes, errors or to add their two cents...I wish you never clicked on my thread too because it certainly wasn't appreciated.

So take advantage of the simple feature to block someone and you won't have to be bothered with it nor bother me.

I'll edit the word "forced" out of it now that I see so many panties got wadded because of it, but the fact remains the combination did lead to checkmate and I chose to showcase my game because I can. If someone doesn't like it, simple fix...they can block me or they can boycott my threads.

#End of story.

you may also want to change "calculated combinations" to "miscalculated combinations"

I don't want to change anything. Once again, no outside input needed or requested.

I think he's talking about an opportunity for white to exchange its queen's  bishop for black's rook or at least win the pawn and or knight from the dark square bishop to a3.

Good quotes fellas. They'd be proud of you for sure.
