How to beat Houdini 1.5

Well first it's really hard, but there is one way to do it i think. 1. Play with 10 minutes to 1 and give a 1 second increment. This may be harder then you think! I know Titled players could do it, but for us ameteurs it can be really hard.

2. Play crazy things! Wild sacs, pawn storms, stuff like that is usually very effective, let me show a game to attempt to prove my point, ok so it was 10 minutes to 30 seconds, but still!  (tip, don't try this type of stuff in a long game, the engine will crush you!

what do you think?

Cool stuff, CP. I'm guessing this stuff works even better on other engines, such as Stockfish and Komodo, since they're not as good as Houdini at bullet time controls. Plus, Stockfish at lower depths produces some really weird variations.

Hmm, I'd imagine that if I tried your experiment, I would probably play even wilder stuff - seeing 30 seconds on your opponent's clock is always encouraging!

As for the game, I think you played great anti-computer tactics. Your set up was very solid, and Black was left without a plan. When the time control is low and it is not clear what to do from a tactical or (non-set up) positional standpoint (in the present position, Black needed to come up with positional set ups that improve the pieces' positions; that will take quite some time for a computer to see - note that normal positional ideas, like weak squares and weak pawns, aren't really present in White's camp, or aren't really exploitable), the computer will fall down quite quickly.

You also opened up the position at the right time and crashed through excellently. However, I am wondering how would the computer punish your overly aggressive set up with more time on the clock?

I think it would punish me, the clock is always a huge factor in those types of games.
