sometimes i'm SAD, but then i'll eat something i like, or read something i like or exercise , and i become glad!!!   i haven't been Angry  recently.  however....our 10 year old housecat, "cuddles"  is really only capable of pain or pleasure....but a cat has less emotional range...but when she comes over to me for pets and purrs, she experiences pleasure, and her purring makes me happy...... perhaps i digress......

Somebody suggested a sportsmanship feedback system. I think that is a good idea. Something like they have on ebay. That way, people hosting tournaments could restrict them (must have a sportsmanship number of X or higher) and people could decline to accept games from people with bad feedback.

On another note, I volunteered to be a greeter. I had a game against some new guy who kept constantly griping that I wasn't playing fast enough, he kept leaving comments like "move already" and "would you just play the game." This was after I politely explained the difference between live and online chess (which of course the site already explains to them). That pissed me off, and as it was an unrated game, I just resigned and got rid of him. I wish there was a way I could leave negative feedback.

The feedback system has been suggested before, ranging from feedback on forum posts to feedback on players, etc.

There are always some very interesting ideas on the other side of the discussion - from the people who are opposed to such a feedback system. I don't remember exactly the form of the last conversation but I ended up siding more with that side than with the feedback side, because of all of the ways in which the system would "evolve".

For example, some people wouldn't know about the feedback system at all (casual users who don't follow the site changes very closely) and when they discovered it would feel violated - as though big brother was watching.

Or, you'd get people getting rated more on how much people like them instead of getting rated on that particular game.

Or, you'd get people threatening to leave negative feedback unless the player moved quicker.

I did not and do not play 14 day games, this was a 3 day. Good advice though nsapkota.

Sometimes when I'm in a losing position, I will take longer because when I'm trying for a draw, or in a very complicated position (even when I'm not losing, or even when I'm winning), I like to wait to take my moves until I am not tired or hurried (although I will play simpler games where I am a few moves from winning, or only have one legal move, in the meantime).  When I do this I never time out, though.  I don't take this extra time unless I think it will help me hold the draw in a lost game (only something I have done once, by the way), or win a game that I might not otherwise win.  I try to never time out in a resignable position, as I consider this to be unsportsmanlike, and also because it hurts my timeout ratio.

I usually don't play more than 3 to 5 days/move.

If he knew he was losing, why didn't he resign? Either he doesn't know about the RESIGN BUTTON?!, he likes to annoy his opponents, or he is looking for a foolish move from you. In fact he is quite foolish himself.
