Instant gratification

I think there's something wrong with my rating. Everytime I lose a game, it goes down lower than I think it should be. I find it hard to think of myself as a 1400 player when I keep losing games.

(That's a joke.)

Anyhow, I've been losing a lot of correspondence games lately it seems so I thought I'd play a blitz game and see what happened.

Before I post the game that it felt so nice to win, I should also point out how I've seen my rating in tactics trainer go as high as 1500 before falling back down under 1200 recently and then start climbing again.

This recent blitz game was one of the few where I could actually use something I've learned from the tactics trainer and win the game immediately as a result.

I hope you enjoy it. I know I enjoyed playing.

As always, I will read any feedback. Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

I have also been feeling that the player pool on chess.com seems to be getting stronger. As a result a "1400" is relatively stronger than a "1400" used to be and most players will feel either a decrease in rating or a plateau effect.

You may be right. I was just joking when I wrote that though. After all, how good is a 1400 player anyway. And what separates a 1400 player from 1375 or 1450?

Thank you.

I guess that's one of the dangers in playing blitz games - missing these self-evident mates that everyone else can see.

I'm not moping.

Hey, I did win that game. Like I said, I'm not moping. Maybe you misinterpreted what I said.
