Miracle Win -- Outplayed -- I luck into a sweet forcing combination

Yep, that's pretty amazing. Good job with that Nc6. Did you evaluate it with the software to ensure it's sound?

I gave a quick pass with software and A) his Nxg4 sac was the best move on the board quite sound, giving him the better game... B) my 26.Nc6 was a saving move that left White holding a small advantage in the evaluation if he played his best continuation (26...d5) ... but the trap-line 26...Qxe2, which is what my opponent chose, is completely poisonous -- it gives White an airtight forced mate. The game continuation gives the main variation.

I am a poker player mostly and have come to chess recently after a multi-decade break. Poker is a game of perception and shadows. I would like to commend your brash honesty. Admitting getting lucky in a world that lionizes the clever is worthy of commendation. Well said...and done.

brilliant combination jg ....v difficult for the opponent to figure out
I can't seem to find a way to pull one over on you though!
Sorry, what happens if at the last position black played Re8. doesn't that avoid the mate? (otherwise it's a beautiful combination ;-) )

Beautiful piece of chess manoeuvres. Refreshing honesty from you. Gives hope to us more humble mortals.

Great finish. Black must have been kicking himself not to have paid enough attention to the pawn on h6, a classic threat against a fianchettoed king position. After Nc6! he surely would have had extreme reservations about taking on e2 if he'd noticed Ne7+!.
Maybe he looked into it, didn't notice 29. Nf5!! and concluded that taking the material was sound. That must have been very satisfying to pull from the fire.
Beautiful tactical shot at the end.
it also kinds of irritates me. A generally better played game can dissappear in one minor miscalculation. 26...Qxe2 would be a strong move if your knight was placed one square different in any direction. It turns out to be his demise. the transience of chess can be so frustrating.
You know how it is -- most games you struggle mightily just to coordinate your pieces into some sort of attack... Not this time...
In this game from the Dragoneers Sicilian Dragon Tournament my opponent outplayed me with a beautiful mid-game sac, a minor piece for pawns, that left me nothing really to do, but play for complications and hope to win some material before his FOUR passed pawns marched me into the sea. Then I missed a simple tactic that allowed him to win a N, which would leave me a resignable game... but that's when the magic happened... there it was... almost effortlessly my pieces came together to weave an airtight and I must say rather artistic mating net.
This game should be filed under the heading: "I'd rather be lucky, than good"
Congrats to my opponent Samchess, who played a fine game, and truly ran into "bad luck" here...
