My Coolest Checkmate

Sort:
Sleight

I have a tendency to sacrifice early and without full compensation.  Something I held off for once (for a few moves at least).

Thoughts?

Never seen the opposing King on the 1st rank before!!

random-d

Obviously your opponent made some mistakes in the defense of his king but you did very well to take advantage of them with a rather fantastic finish.

Bur_Oak

How about 20. O-O# for rubbing it in?

Sleight

Oh man, Bur_Oak, you are correct.  I should have thought of that.  Still Ke7# is a great way to end a game.

jonathan_ie

wow!! nice!!Smile

TheGrobe

Nice finish -- the ending reminds me of this game -- one of my favourites:

Unfortunately, Lasker also chose not to play O-O-O#.

That king moved far.To the other side wow.lol. Good game. A trap well set for a good checkmate!

marvellosity

20.0-0# would have been much more satisfying.

You say 5.dxe5 was 'almost forced' - totally disagree, I don't think I'd have played that move at all.

Sleight

Proposing what instead?  If I had postponed the capture, he would have had time to develop and sure up his Kingside.

Elubas

If only black's knight wasn't on c6 to capture back and protect ...g6, you could play 10 Nxe5.
