wonderful game
My immortal game

Shocked that an 1800 doesn't know how to play the fried liver opening defense? I mean nice game, but it really came about because he fell into a very old opening trap.

Solid game but most players at that rating hardly ever play 3. ...Nf6
3. ...Bc5 is the proper response.

It was actually a thematic tournament, so he played white as well - we drew.
I don't know who this is responding to, but what I meant was Nxd5 is just the wrong move. The correct move would be Na5 when defending against the fried liver attack. I was just shocked that he played the correct d5 move without knowing the continuation. Still a good game, but when the opponent falls for a well known trap, it sorta takes the "immortal" nature out of it for me (opinion only).

I think he may have been saying that since it was a thematic tournament, they HAD to play the Fried Liver attack.

yes, I understood, but what does that have to do with playing it incorrectly as black?
Sorry, I misunderstood when you were speaking of playing Na5. My fault.

sorry if i am wrong, but couldn't you have ended the game quicker with 20.Qa1#?
Good game though!

Nf6 is a move played at GM level.
3...Nf6 is the Two Knight's Defence. Many top players have played it before, and it gives Black some good chances of winning. The Fried Liver Attack for White is a fun line in this defence.
Nice win to the poster! I couldn't see any holes in the attack when I looked.

You couldn't?

best game really.. and to use fried liver? I question your opponent if hes has a rating of 1800+ to respond with Nf6 instead of Bc5..
On top of that its a realitively standard fried liver attack. You may think its your best game but instead its probably just the luckiest you've ever gotten with a fried liver attack as he made 2 essential misakes that lead to his downfall

Well I guess you know better than the Masters. Please read the previous comments.

Ha, ha let me re-state that this was a thematic tournament before my opponent gets bashed more.
The position was already SET UP for me to play Nxf7 (or d4). The boards were set up in this position:
Na5 or Bc5 were not playable - it is white to move. The point was to play the fried liver attack. As black, you ought to head for a draw (or that was my strategy). I got into round 2 but missed the next session so got kicked out :(. Most higher rated people played d4 rather than Nxf7 but I find Nxf7 harder to draw against.
So I suppose this ISN'T my best game, since it didn't start off naturally. Certainly my favorite though. Thanks for the comments!
This is my best game and scalp I've had. If I recall, it was a 7-10 move forced mate. I don't believe he could escape after I play Re1+ but I have not analyzed the game thoroughly (because I didn't want to ruin it). However if you find ways he could escape and put it in a drawish position, feel free to share!
