This was a game I played against a higher-rated opponent. Enjoy! :)

Nice work, looks sound.

Rasparovov

Kg6, Qd3+ f5. But it's unclear without analysis, which I dont have time for ..

Phelon

As always if black runs his king backwards he loses, Kg6 is forced.

Hello my dear friend ItsEoin

Black king was trapped in his own castle! This move was really fabulous and shows your curiosity and skill; however, all my friends are smart actually :))

I generally didn't like the 1st move of black pawn. One square forward for a pawn as a start move is undesirable especially for black which can be catastrophic (in my opinion). Kf6 is the firm guard of the castle. The oponent lost it easily. Maybe it is better to say it was involved by a brave white pawn (e5).

What do u think about the start move? Do u agree?

ItsEoin

I figure that ... e6 is perfectly sound if Black knows how to handle such a complex system as the French. I personally have never gone near it, but it's got such a good reputation that it must have something to it. Thanks for all the compliments; always great to hear from you!

Good game! You´re right about 2... Nc6; in the databases, it does very badly for black, turning his French defense into an unsound line of the Nimzowitsch defense.

Black´s big mistake was to take the bishop. After 9... Kh8 Black seems to have very good chances of attacking on c3 and trading off queens; once that´s done, he can safely take the bishop on h7.

But no fun without risk, and you did a great job of finishing him off!

Well done, that mate was well executed but Rasparovov does seem to be correct - after 10.Ng5, 10...Kg6 11.Qd3+ f5 & Black certainly can play on.
White just runs out of steam as far as I can see, whether or not the f5 pawn is taken en passant.

This trick won me a bunch of games at the beginning of my chess experience...

Kg6,Qg4, then what does black do

ItsEoin

Thanks for the comments guys. Regarding the Qd3+ f5 line - that was just something that looked like it had potential to me at the time, and I didn't analyze it too deeply. A couple people have suggested Kg6 Qg4 and after more analysis, that looks much sounder to me.

Escapest_Pawn

phren's "too many hanging pieces" point lasts for awhile.  Even at the late "trapped" stage of move  11,  black still has

11....QxNg5

12 QxQg5 NxNc3 leaving him with 3 minor pieces for his queen

11....Re8 fails, but is longer, starting with 12 Qxf7+. Should be looked at as it is easy to find and see as black only has one response to each check.
