If he hadn't trapped his own queen with 6. Qg4 and 7. Nf3 and instead played 6.Qf6 you would have been down a pawn. And with a knight on the rim, you probably lacked conpensation for sed pawn.

Nice queen capture. When faced against someone playing that against me I like to play 2 ... Nc6 and then follow up with 3 ... Nf6 (Although if 3 Bc4 then g6 is needed to prevent checkmate). Saves you from losing the pawn and develops pieces
