For the third time in a row, no grandmasters showed up to this tournament, even though there has always been at least one or two. The last time three of these tournaments in a row took plae with no GM's was in 2007. Oh well. Maybe that means I will  win more games....

Round 1- You may recall that last month at this tournament, the lack of strong players caused me to get paired down with a lower rated player. Well, this time, there were enough higher rated players such that I was able to play a higher rated player. Anyways, my opponent was famous a few years back for holding GM Alexander Stripunsky to a draw despite a rating difference of about 800 points! This game is a classic example of me not capitalizing on a better middlegame, and then failing to draw the endgame. Oh well.

Round 2- After tragically losing that first game, I was paired down with a much lower rated player- or so I thought. He played remarkably well for his rating and managed to get into a drawn rook ending.  I was able to outmaneuver him and I was up a pawn, but I misplayed the resulting position and we eventually shook on a theoretically drawn position. This is not the entire game.

Round 3- I played an opponent whose rating is about equal to mine, but the qualit of our game is that of two beginners, not two class A players. My opponent got a great position and continued to build it up until blowing it with 23. Be3?? I also missed a win at the end (38. Rxh2!), but by then, we were in time trouble. My opponent had a better position after that but then he blundered and allowed me to pin his queen to his king with my rook. Again, I do not have the entire game.

Round 4- Not much to say about this game. My opponent is about 100 points higher rated than me, but neither of us had an advantage at any point.

Overall, I think this tournament went pretty well for me, in that I did not lose to any lower rated players. However, my rating probably is not going to change much.

The score for game 3 is the same as the score for game 2.
