Any Mac users here? So I have the Chessnut Air electronic board and it has the option to import UCI engines.  I wanted to import Stockfish 15 but first I have to install it on my mac and I can't find anything on youtube or any instructions anywhere on how to do this.  Anyone know how?

Yes I saw that already but it says to download the engine "get it through Homebrew: brew install stockfish"

It sounds like some command line stuff.  I was wondering if anyone has done this before and can provide instructions.  I can't find any videos on this.

Open Terminal by pressing command+space then type terminal and hit Enter key.
Install homebrew first. Heres the command to install homebrewruby -e "$(curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Homebrew/install/master/install)" < /dev/null 2> /dev/null

Just copy paste it to terminal.

. Then once homebrew is installed type this on terminal: brew install stockfish. There Stockfish is finally installed!

Now that Stockfish is installed you have to locate which folder Stockfish is installed. On your computer the path is to the Engine is below:  /opt/homebrew/opt/stockfish

I've already tried this, I know for a fact that it is confusing and its been years since I tried installing stockfish over and over again. I was looking for someone to upload the stockfish file . Turns out nobody did wanna help me. Well here is the help you need!

HomeBrew, it is the first thing any Mac user should test a package in before installing from binaries. It is a common knowledge.

Second, all installation instructions of Brew is openly given on the link above nothing special of hidden out there.

Third, there are a couple of more steps to add Brew to your Path which the user above hasn't mentioned. But worry not, Brew is installed via Terminal, it spits out those ectra steps. Without those extra three steps any

brew install   command won't work.

The link to HomeBrew even gives you information about any package you might need starting from LaTex for scientific writing to vim for editing documents to Stockfish in a easy search manner.

Point and case: Be your own teacher and grasp good opensource websites. Most information is free these days.

Cheers !

just go to the stockfish github. Navigate to releases and download the macos file. You do not want to be messing around with opt files. I would avoid going there completely. It is a hidden folder for a reason. You do not want to messing around with system files on mac.

then download arena chess. Or you can just download from app store
