10,000 Hours

There's some saying about putting in 10,000 hours of practice to become a master of something. That equates to 600k minutes. Assuming we only count the minutes on one player's clock, that would mean someone would have to play 60k ten minute rapid games, 120k five minute blitz games, or 6,667 classical or 90 minute games (I think).

This obviously doesn't include studying, puzzles, or other forms of practice; but how many estimated hours do you have in chess? And what rating are you?

I agree with the above comment. 10,000 hours doesn't improve anything if there's no plan. There are so many players who have over 10,000 games on Chess.com or Lichess but aren't even 1500 rated. However, if there's a plan for learning, playing longer time games & analysis of mistakes. There would be a good chance that person would be an expert after 10,000 hours.
