Out of boredom, I decided to play chess. I have no idea how the game works at first so I decided to give it a try. At first, I don't know anything about this site. So. I downloaded the chess royale in play store and play it. little by little I gain some understanding of the game. I started playing chess last November 2021. After weeks of playing, I started watching some chess videos on youtube for some tips and to gain more understanding of the chess world like the title (Cm, Im, Fm, and Gm) and some rules. After months of playing, I discover this site and immediately create an account. So basically its been a year since i started playing chess(from zero). And i manage to reach a 1500 rating is it a good improvement? Am I a fast learner?

That is really good improvement! happy.png It isn't unheard of to reach 1500 chess.com rating in one year, but it takes a lot of effort (working on your chess and learning) to reach this level and most people NEVER reach 1500 rating because most don't ever put in the amount of work, despite the fact that some of the core positional fundamentals of chess usually come up around 1600-1800 level.

In fact, it took me about 1 full year on chess.com to reach 1500 myself and I still remember how happy I was to reach this milestone! I think I was more happy with reaching 1500 than I was reaching 2000 years later lol.

Is 1500 good improvement? Yes it is. I'd say something like "you have potential", but you are already higher than most so that boat has sailed. If you want to keep learning the nuances of chess most never reach then stick with the game and see how much your chess progresses over time like I have happy.png

The (perhaps obvious, but I'll still include it) caveat is that rating becomes much tougher to increase the higher up you get. There are mathematical reasons for this based on how the rating system works, but also because the higher rated players play more accurately so smaller margins of error could decide the game.

Don't worry too much about rating numbers though. Just keep learning and improving if you like and maybe set goals in intervals of 100 if you like. Maybe try for 1600 rating and then 1700 and 1800 and you get the idea.

Congratulations on your 1500 rating achievement happy.png
