I actually once brought up this topic. good to hear from ppl who played both time controls
3 minute players are much stronger than 10 minute players

The quicker the game, yeah you have to be a strong player to do well. You need a HUGE repertoire, better anticipation, insanely quick analysis skills and know how to avoid traps. I find it really fascinating to watch the stronger players play Super Blitz and Bullet.

But you'd think that it would even out. You'd think that quicker games = people play worse = the overall difficulty is the same, for any given rating.

Maybe it is a combination of time management skills and that people probably create crazier unclear positions in the 3 minute chess that is the reason it doesn’t quite level out.
Other skills probably play a part too though. Bullet might just be your particular sweet spot.

It's because the average strength of the player pool is different.
Beginners tend to like longer time controls, like 10|0. After playing for a while they might switch to 3|0 but from what I've seen people never start with 3|0 because it's too fast so they don't like it.
And of course all the pros play stuff like 3|0. It's very rare to see any titled player play 10|0 much less a GM.
Either of those things alone could make the 3|0 pool harder.

I agree with that, when switching from 10 min to 5 | 5 (not even so much shorter, only slightly), I realized that, with the same rating, players play better quality games than the players in 10 min. Like, when you analyze the game post-mortem, you see less mistakes/blunders and cleaner games (therefore much more difficult to win). Therefore, I dropped from ~1500 to ~ 1350 to find again opponents at my level in 5|5 . Let alone 3 | 0 for me yet ...

I once suggesting creating seperate ratings for every time control in addition to the more general bullet-blitz-rapid ratings. Nobody thought it was a good idea, but you guys can now see the reasoning behind it, as 10 minute and 3 minute chess are completely different games.

It actually depends on what your own strengths are. I am generally weaker at longr time controls so I prefer 5 min and 3 min.

It's because you get more repetition in, so you understand the patterns faster.
You get 3 times the amount of games in at least.

completely normal, i'm an 1800 player in 10 minute and about 1650'ish in 3 minute blitz. I never play "long chess" but because I can often score 2000 in tactics, I'd probably be around 1900-2000 in slow chess, but I don't play it so I'm not sure. But its normal that your 3 minute ratings will be lower than your 10 minute ratings. Even more so are your 1 minute games.

I have know idea about this I find that when I play my Rapid 15 | 10 games I play very well I recently played a 15 | 10 game and me and my opponent played like 2000s and 2100s even though we were 1300s. However in Blitz and Bullet a lot of people prioritize playing quickly over properly so I don't know I would say that Rapid players can think and have time to make moves improving their performance
In my experience, the strongest opponents I face on chess.com are the ones that play the 3 minute blitz games.
I've noticed that when I play 10 minute blitz games, I can get my rating well above 1700, but when I start playing 3 minute games, I suddenly go on a huge losing streak and drop down to 1600 rating. This has happened to me multiple times.
And it's not that I'm bad at short games either: I'm very good at 1 minute bullet games. My highest rating on this site is my bullet rating, so it's surprising to me that I would do better at 10 minute games than at 3 minute games. I just find that the people who play 3 minute games are stronger for their rating than the people who play 10 minute games. Like they actually make better moves, despite having less time to think.
