Hello chess fans/ I want to play 45+45 but nobody  accepting /waiting 10 minutes still noone / why people does not want to play classical chess? if you want to improve you should play classical chess!

againseriously
Maybe try 60min … I always get an opponent for that within a minute or two.

15|10 is good enough to improve.

I try 60 min waiting  15 min and sad.png noone accepts

45|45 means a duration of 180 minutes = 3 hours
People cannot commit for 3 hours
People do not want to commit for 3 hours not knowing if the opponent is worthy
3 Hours of staring at a screen strains the eyes.

15|10 is good enough to improve

Yurinclez2

imagine taking time equal to rapid just on waiting to be paired lol...

anyways, most people including me don't want to spend that much time on online chess

'cause ya know...there are lot of other much more fun things to do with ur internet with that amount of time.

I always get paired immediately when i play 60 minutes. In 45|45 format i find no one. From personal experience 15|10 is not enough to improve. It’ true that staring at a screen for longer times is terrible, that’s why i set up the game on a real board and play it out over the board.

I also believe chess.com should have different ratings for 60 min games and 10 min games, as to me, a beginner, they are totally different games.

Assuming a game of 60 moves: 45|45 is 2*(45+45) = 180 minutes = 3 hours
60|0 is 2*60 = 120 minutes = 2 hours
Try 30|30 instead: it is better than 60|0

@tygxc Thanks for the tip, why would it be better though? Any Reason apart from having an increment ( which is of course good).

Yeah, on that level, it gets harder to get longer games. I still find some games, as there are some people 1 600 rated and above playing 60|0 and 45|45, but in many cases you have to wait for quite some time.

There are other options however. You could join some of the clubs which promote longer games (like slow chess league) and find someone there in your rating range to play a game with. Or just find a few sparring partners in that rating range and check if they are online, or even play some of their tournaments.

@tygxc

Your math is ok, but in practice 45|45 game almost never lasts that long. I don't think I ever had 45|45 game that lasted for 3 hours. At most I think it was 2 hours and 10 minutes or something like that. It is rare to last 2 hours even, let alone 3. I play those games (and 60|0) and on average I think the games last around 50 minutes (when you take into account some quick wins and defeats and games that last until the endgame).

In practice people play 45|45 and 60|0 around the same amount, so there is practically no difference if he seeks 45|45 or 60|0 game, especially on 1 800 level (there are only a handful of people on 1 800+ level who plays these long games).

30|30 is of course a nice time control, but there are fewer people there because it is a custom time control. Hopefully they will implement it if they add classical rating, which they are considering.

@Caiman

10|0 and 60|0 game all goes in rapid category on chess.com. In some distant future, they might implement classical rating, but it will take a while.

Many people play too fast for their time control.

Increment is better because you can always win a won position or draw a drawn position. If you play 60|0 and both players use their time, then it can still degenerate to a flagging contest of KR vs. KR. All FIDE competitions are with increment.

Finding the right time control is the hardest thing to do when playing online chess and you are a beginner like me. I have found 30|0 to be the best compromise. The 30|0 is a standard time control and I kind of hope there are lots of players out there that can commit to playing a 1 hour chess game. However, many of my opponents have played thousands of chess games and they play really fast, like they are playing a 10 min game. They often only use about 10-15 mins of their clock, whereas I am losing between 50 - 60 percent of my games as a result of my clock expiring.

Also, I have found that I seem to get better luck pairing right away for a 30|0 game if I start my game seek very close, (1-5 min.), to the beginning of the hour (12:00, 1:00, 2:00, etc.). If I miss the beginning of the hour by more than 10 minutes, I often have to wait to get paired.

Play 15|10 instead of 30|0. You never lose on time because you always have 10 seconds to move.
15|10 is the FIDE rapid standard time control.

I've tried 15|10, but I like to analyze all my games, often multiple times.

At 15|10 I find the game pace so fast that I can't recall my thoughts post game when I do the analysis. At 30|0 speed, I can recall every tricky position I had in a game and I can jump right to that spot in analysis to see what I could have done differently. In fact, at 30|0 speed, I can look at most of my recent games in my Archive and recall my exact mistake position for each game.

The 30|0 games have given me many interesting positions to remember and I accept losing 50-60 percent of my games as a result of my clock expiring.

Hey If you want to play some 45|45 I'm always open to play? I like those kind of games.

Assuming a 60 moves game 15|10 lasts 2*(15 + 10) = 50 minutes
and 30|0 lasts 2*30 = 60 minutes. That is about the same.

Maybe I will give 15|10 a try. In the past, I have also tried 45|45, but I would often have to wait a long time to get paired.

I've played 64 Live Games in the last 90 days, (30|0):

Maybe if I play 15|10 games instead of 30|0, I might just win a game where my opponent loses by timeout.
