7 DAY game

I started off playing blitz and bullet as a chess n00b (I'm still a beginner in my humble opinion) however it became apparent I was not only learning very little, but according to some comments I may be ruining my chess by not allowing the time to study & learn.
I added a few similar players the algorithms paired me up with in rapid games as friends, then saw a recommendation to challenge a particular connection (with similar rating) to a 7 day game and to my surprise it was accepted. I also thought I didn't have the patience for such a game, however in terms of learning it's quite the opposite of bullet, blitz and even rapid chess.
I have played some daily games before with 1 day per move, then forgotten and lost on time which I found ridiculous considering I had a whole day to move and had been used to having only a few minutes or seconds to move in many occasions.
As it turns out I actually really like the 7 day (per move). My opponent sometimes moves within minutes, but more often than not we take a few hours each. When I see the notification of the next move when I happen to be connected, I immediately begin studying it. I've started making use of the analysis board for the first time during a game.
I feel that at this setting, I'm allowing myself to really calculate several moves ahead (I noticed I was looking at a possible outcome 22 moves ahead at one stage! That was a bit too far I'll admit, but in doing so it highlighted certain structural weaknesses and gaps in defence that are probably very relevant as well as considering new tactics I'd rarely play such as traps.
To get over the issue of having to wait a long time, I still play all my regular rapid games (15|10, 30 and custom 45 min games each day) and I barely touch blitz and definitely not bullet anymore, unless I just want a quick fix for fun as opposed to progressing as a player.
My approach is not to knock something until you've tried it, and now I have tried it I've realised just how much I get into each move.
On the downside for me the game has the potential to last 6 months or even a year! I wonder how my opponent and I might progress and drift apart in rating, skill and knowledge in that however I'm definitely overthinking it.
If you're here because you're unfamiliar with this feature and the analysis board available during daily games (not sure about other types) then you might also find it useful to know that you can annotate in the (desktop) browser with a right-click and drag between squares to create an arrow or a single right-click to highlight a square in red. This sometimes helps me visualise complex scenarios, not to mention all the annotations are saved for that move, so when the opponent moves and you move back a move to view the last move, all the annotations will be intact. Useful if you've been away from the game for a while, and to remind you of your thinking, the threats, possible moves, exchange calculations etc.
It's still early days on my journey, but I've found all this stuff really useful so far and hope you do too. Perhaps I should have actually written a blog post rather than a comment on a several month old threat, but as I said (and it's an important disclaimer to go with my claims) I consider myself a beginner still in the grand scheme of things.

Can you review a 7 day game after it’s finished
I can confirm, having just made sure of this that you can indeed review a 7 day game after it's finished, just like other games. You can do it from the game itself, or by navigating to your completed games and looking for the daily game in question.

Hi,
I'm new here on Chess.com. So sorry for asking questions that already 've been answered several times before. Don't seem to find the answer on the forum though..
My question: I am playing someone in a 7 day game challenge. It seems to me that my opponent has unlimited time to make his moves though. Way more than 7 days. What are the rules here? I can not see the time/clock of my opponent. It remains on 7 days.
I thought we both had 7 days to make our moves, but as I said, that is not the case.
Someone can clear this up for me please? Thanks!
You have 7 days to make a move so a 40 move game can take near to 280 days to complete because each move resets the timer, hopefully it will be clearer for everyone in the future because i made the mistake of playing 7 day and chose 3 games and it is one of my biggest mistakes i've made since joining chess.com , usually chess is fun but daily 7 days is pure torture, sorry if you,ve become a daily 7 day victim like me
