If he had time to stick around afterwards and boast about his skills, there was no emergency that called him away.

He should have played on and he could have probably won the game.  That is the only time you should have considered agreeing that he is a better chess player.

Ah yes, the under 1000 rated players. A lot of fun. It's great to play from time to time a game with them. Actually i learn thing or two. They play so different style it's actually enjoyable. Ultra agressive, attacking style. Have to try blindfolded.

He simply forgot or didn't realize that the bishop covers that square.  Yet again another reason that demonstrates that chess is just a skill based memory game.  It seems like your opponent was actually making better moves than you where throughout almost the entire game.  It was only in two moments of the game where he did silly moves, one of them could have ended where you could have claimed a draw, and the other where he simply had a new idea and went with it, forgetting that your bishop covered that square.  I recently won against someone higher rated than me because he did exactly the same thing and resigned right after he blundered.  In your case however, he could have played on.  It seems like he was so butt hurt over the fact that he made such a move against someone like you and resigned and felt the need to tell you that he was better than you.  I personally think he's right, and he probably won't make enough blunders like that for you to win more out of a 10 vs 10 match.  Perhaps, instead of gloating over the win due to your opponents blunder and resigning due to being butt hurt, you should have instead asked him to play a 10 game match, to really see who was better, seeing how you seem to believe that you are actually better than him, despite the fact that for the most part, he was simply making better moves than you in that game, and could have gone on to win even after he blundered a piece.

I won and he told me that before the game was over and I was white

Somewhere in the world is the men's best over 90 boxing champion and the women's best over 90 exotic dancer as well !Laughing

...but wanting you to call him the better player is like Hillary Clinton telling Ann Widdecombe to call her the better looking woman !
