Advantages and disadvantages of the internet..

One of the advantages is that you meet all kinds of people from all over the world...that you can play chess with...that is a great thing..

i have found that 

1. internet has changed the behaviour of people . now people are ok with the negative stuff that happens to others . just watch the youtube . the videos in which others are disrespected / voilated /humiliated have highest views and people want more of this stuff .

2. people have become abbusive , bullies ,disrespectful towards others on net . just watch forum on this site . you will see many examples of so called trolling and they are proud to be trolls .i like to clear that many decent people are here on forum too and i have found useful stuff on forum too . i will share one of my experiences . i was trying to help another player on forum regarding his qs  . another user was writing negative comments towards me . i ignored him/her but when the user commented again i asked him/her  : do you have some problem with me ? 

user replied ; yeah 

me : may i ask what ?

user : you giving advice with your low level ratings .

me: read my advice if i have given wrong advice then correct me . i will accept it .  

user : go to hell

me : i forgive you for having a problem with me . good luck on your journey in chess.

user : you forgiving me ! go to hell pompous person 

that user was targetting me for negative comments because i was trying to help another user in these forums .that user would not have dared do this if he/she was sitting in front of me . the net gave him/her annonymity so his/her actual self came out here on net .

3. virtual world !

people are now mostly living in virtual world . they dont actually communicate with each other now .just observe others in bus/subway . mostly everybody is on i phone or i pad .people fussing over comments on facebook .people recording themselves ( selfies) .teenagers are now calling themselves pro gamers and worry about their online ratings , position in a GAME while doing absolutely nothing in real life . i mean they are not doing something that actually benefits another human . whats a pro gamer ? answer : a professional couch potatoe .

i dont mean to say that i am against gaming . i actually play online game too but what i am seeing there is disturbing me . players have given it the place of actual reality . i and thats disturbing . it affects these peoples psychologically and changes their behaviour negatively . these players become disrespectful . they like to watch others suffer . if you dont believe me , go ahead join an online game and watch the forums there . or meet with an online gamer and observe him/her .

I agree with what Web14 states with one more:

The prevalence and popularity of social media sites has given people the false sense that they are actually interacting with people (and to some extent site like this). They look at facebook and see that they have lots of "friends" and think they are popular and have friends, when all they really have are digital signatures that are following them. Or, they think they are making a difference in the world by posting something with a #hashtag instead of actually going and making a difference in the world.

As for advantages, I can tell you as someone who grew up in an age with nothing even remotely similar to personal computers and who first browsed the "web" with only text, needing to enter a number beside a "link" to go to another page (no mouse), the ability to find information quickly is incredible. But it is a double edged sword. You have to take a lot of what you read with a grain of salt.

A disadvantage is that you don t see the opponent..girls are mostly or often men hiding themselves...it can get very confusing...

Then there is the amount of time you spend on the internet...it takes hours away from real things in real life ...you spent little time with your loved ones and all that...

Pros: Information in your hands.

Cons: Clowns that get easily offended because a superClown said something mean in the chat are abundant.

Antibiotics no longer kill bacteria.

But for those who never use them, taking one should do a world of good.

Bacteria is the same everywhere. They can update together via internet.

True.  But as I said they can say whatever they want only on the internet.

Technically they can say whatever they want wherever they want, at least once.

Pro's: without the Internet I would never have known BronsteinPawn existed.

Con's: without the Internet I would never have known BronsteinPawn existed.

         After weighing both sides carefully   ...it seems to be a wash.

Pro: many stupid people I can troll.

Con: many stupid people that make me feel depressed.
