The commute is much better from my bedroom to my computer in the living room or office. It beats driving halfway across San Francisco through traffic and then probably struggling to find parking. I'd really like to play at the closest club to me, The Mechanics' Institute, which has many strong players and a great history, but it's really inconvenient for me to get down there.
Advantages of playing live would be more serious players, better discussion of the game afterwards, playing with a real board and pieces rather than a 2D representation, the added pleasure of watching other games in person (much more enjoyable than watching games online), maybe opportunities to find study and training partners.
yes ,playing live on real board is more sociable
advantages of playing chess through internet online or live
Advantage of chess on the Internet is purely convience if you have a family kids and not much time to get out and play or there's no chess club around chess online is always there.
Disadvantage: your at the mercy of people who relentlesly cheat with sophisticated engines and bots all day long chess online is just a pushing and shoving match with an anonymous bully who likes kicking sand in people's faces and trash talking in the chat box.
I'd rather play face to face chess with friends it's more fun and enjoyable.
kicking sand in people's faces is better than cheating with sophisticated engines
